I can't remember what book this is!?

I read a book about a girl who was poisoned by her mother with bleach and i remember that her mother wouldn't let her throw up after ingesting the bleach, but for the life of me I cant remember the name of the book or anything else that happened from it. I think maybe the part I'm remembering might have been in the past, like some sort of flashback, but I'm not sure. Also I think it might have been semi-popular. Thanks!
