Did edward have before having with bella?

ive recently been reading the twilight companion by Lois H. Gresh which is abut all vampires but stephenie meyer has nothing to do with this book. and ive finished it, okay so i didnt read it all, just the bits thatn looked the most interesting, and at the end shes writing about edward and bella on isle esme in breaking dawn and she says 'Edward shows remarkable restriaint, considering how long its been since he made love to a girl', so i was just wandering, did he have with someone else before bella, when he was human or vampire? because when he's talking to bella about how he talked to Carlisle and his brothers about having with someone, it seems hes never had because the way he tells bella what his brother has told him just seemed that he hadnt had - i belive either carlisle, jasper or emmett said that physical love is like nothing else - or something along thiose lines - so did he have before having with bellla?
