Explain the main problem Martin Luther had with Catholicism?

The Catholic Church made up many beliefs. Mary never ascended in heaven. I was originally only a legend, until a 7th Century Pope decreed that it was to become a religious fact with punishment for those who didn't believe it. Pope Leo 10th had depleted Vatican Funds on lavish living including wild weekend parties, that featured naked young boys. Pope Leo then sold, "Indulgences" or Certificates of Guaranteed Salvation throughout Europe to bring in money. An Indulgence granted Salvation regardless of what a person did. Martin Luther, who was an Augustinian Monk posted a listing of grievances against the Church and when he refused to stop, he was excommunicated.
