What rights do gay people obtain by getting married?

The right to have their partner included in their health plan, the right to refuse to testify against their partner in court, etc. I.e., the same rights that heteroual married people have. Civil unions could be crafted that would grant these same rights, but that would just be an updated version of "separate but equal".
