Can I claim Unemployment benefits?

My employer found out that I am a Democrat. My employer is one of the top Republicans in the County. He put up a HUGE sign in front of our office for a Republican candidate. I have been very careful not to say anything, but when he put up the sign, I did mention that the Republican candidate that he is endorsing didn't do a very good job as mayor of my hometown. That caused my employer to start asking questions about me. He found out that I am a Democrat. A week later he fired me, for what he called "willful misconduct". His allegations are false.
